FAQs

What parents ask about habits

? When should my child stop thumb-sucking or pacifiers?
Ideally by age 3–4. Earlier is easier, but we can help at any age with stepwise, positive strategies.
? Will these habits affect teeth or speech?
Prolonged habits may narrow the palate, change bite, or affect speech. Early, supportive intervention helps prevent issues.
? Do you use reminder appliances?
Sometimes for older kids. We prefer coaching first and consider appliances if progress stalls.
? What mouthguard is best?
For most sports, well-fit boil-and-bite is fine; custom guards are best for braces, contact sports, or frequent play.
? How long does it take to stop a habit?
Most children succeed in 4–8 weeks with consistent, positive reinforcement and regular check-ins.
